This year theme gave recognitions to Haitian women for their contribution in Haitian history, business, community, music,..etc. Photos of current Haitian women celebrities living in the U.S like Edwidge Danticat ( Writer), Garcelle Beauvais ( Actress), and Marie Claudinette Jean ( Fashion Designer/ Wiclef Wife ) were used on the event flyer to symbolize the idea behind the night. This event also named as: "Cultural Night" was full of activities and music. After the singing of Haiti's National Anthem, the "Cultural Night" was officially on. Enthusiastically, students from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds experienced musical vibes and choreographic sketches by fellow M.S.U students who proudly displayed and gave some critical insights about the Haitian culture. Also, speeches about Haitian women contributions like Defile, and Haitian folks readings were part of the entertainment. The night was followed by a reception with Haitian foods ( DuRI ak Poule ..etc ), and an after party that went until 1:00 AM. Surely, Akolad.com congratulates the Haitian Student Club at Montclair State University for their invitation, and this splendid night that not only promote the awareness of other cultures on campus, but also the respect, and better understanding of the Haitian culture, traditions, and history.
