Newark, NJ - In our tireless efforts to help the Haitian Community, Akolad.com proudly announces the sponsorship of Miss Citronelle pageant contestant Rose Abraham, a 20 year old Pre-Med student, and Communications major from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. Miss.Rose with six other contestants will participate at the 10th annual edition of New Jersey Miss Citronelle on Saturday June 24, 2006 in a chance to become the 2007 New Jersey Miss Citronnelle.

Miss. Citronnelle is an annual pageant event started back in 1996 by Jean Clotaire Silencieux founder and director of Tele Citronnelle and TCS-TV a 24 hours Haitian Satellite channel based in Orange, New Jersey. The event featured females of Haitian descent between the age of 18 and 30 years old with no criminal record among other predetermined criteria where contestants compete on multiple aspects such as artistic talent (dance, singing, and poetry), stage presence, public speaking, and opinion on controversial subjects.

Despite the rigorous course work as a pre-med student, Rose is extremely involved in extracurricular activities on her campus and in her community. For example, Rose is the president of the West Indian Student Organization for two years in a row she is a member of the Haitian student Organization, a mentor for freshmen students, member of the emerging leader?s institute, and a member of the West Indian Dance troupe. And when it seems like she has done enough, she tackles the challenge of running for Miss Citronnelle, and still maintains a 3.4 cumulative grade point average.

While going into her senior year at Rutgers University, Rose is looking forward to graduation, starting her career as a doctor, and helping the community. Realizing the lack of good healthcare in Haiti, Miss. Rose hopes one day she can go to Haiti and share some of her good fortunes with those that are less fortunate than she.
" I want to continue to help my community as a pediatrician, and go back to Haiti to contribute, " said Rose.

Rose is a shinning example in the Haitian community. So, let applaud her right now, and on stage at the Robert Treat Hotel on Saturday June 24, 2006. And keep your eyes open, because the next time you hear of her she will be Dr. Rose---.
