Our solidarity can be manifested in many ways by:
1- Expressing our support by making public statements which we have done by publishing the attached Press Release.
2- Contributing financially to the Relief Funds of reliable organizations like the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, etc.
3- Volunteering our professional services especially the Health sector (there is need for Medical Doctors, Nurses, Civil Engineers, Statisticians, etc...)

In any case, the Haitian Community must be grateful to the American people that have always stood by our country when it is hit by such deplorable situations. Also, the State of Louisiana shares a lot of commonalities with Haiti in many aspects (cultural, culinary, historical, musical, linguistic, etc). The City of New-Orleans is the town of Jacmel's twin sister. Another aspect of this relation is the fact that almost 30,000 Haitians live in Louisiana especially in the city of New Orleans where Haitians are growing owners of the taxi business.

We, Haitian Community Katrina Relief Fund, are asking the Haitian Community to generously participate in the collection efforts to help relieve the suffering of these innocent victims. If you are sending a check to one of the humanitarian organizations, please send a photocopy of the check to us at the HAUP address below. It will help us account for the community's contribution to the Relief efforts. Otherwise, send your checks payable to "American Red Cross" with mention "Haitian Community Katrina Relief Fund" to Haitian American United for Progress (HAUP) 221-05 Linden Boulevard Cambria-Heights, NY 11411 Tel. (718) 527-3774.

We will take the collected funds to the Headquarters of the American Red Cross in Manhattan on behalf of the Haitian Community.

Remember that all contributions are tax deductible. Don't think your contribution is too small. Not at all. It can make a big difference in the lives of the victims.

In such circumstance, the Haitian Community must show its Support and Solidarity in standing by, and helping friends that are in need.
