L'union
Fait La Force is the motto that all Haitians live by.
It is our well being. It is our sense of identity; our
sense of pride. But the thing that many Haitians seem
to forget a lot of times is that this motto should not
only apply to Haitians.
On Thursday December 1st, the Haitian students Association
of Kean University proved that to be true, by bringing
together a plethora of different students from all over
the world to celebrate a piece of Haitian Culture through
our popular music genre, Compas.
ZIN, although only 3 letters was a whole lot of talk
that night in Downs Hall. The music played, the heat
blasted, the ladies screamed as lead singer Allen Cave
and ZIN serenaded to an almost sold out crowd while
playing some of their very popular hit songs.
Bringing ZIN to Kean University was not an easy task
to come by. The dream team, also know as the E-board
led by president Muriam Albert along with the general
student organization, and other student groups worked
really hard to bring this band on campus.
" it was a challenge to bring a live band on the university
campus for the first time in Kean University history,"
said Albert.
Looking out into the audience everyone there had a very
good time. Most importantly, it was indeed a huge victory
for HAS ( Haitian students association), and all Haitian
students at Kean university to have for the first time
in history a live Haitian band play at school campus.
It was also very significant to see people of other
cultures dancing and having a good time. This event
and others like it truly exemplifies the true meaning
of " L'union Fait La Force".
